2014 AIA Honolulu Design Awards – Award of Excellence
AIA Honolulu honored de Reus Architects with a 2014 Award of Excellence for Kauhale Kai Residence. The design award judges wrote of the project: “Ancient and modern are not two words that often go together. Yet, they marry beautifully in the Kauhale Kai project to create a timeless, exquisite residence nestled on the Kohala Coast of Hawai’i Island.”
“The vision for this house was to create a place where architecture, landscape, art and land would come together as one” writes Mark de Reus who extends his thanks to the talented team members who contributed toward this achievement.
This is the fifth AIA Honolulu Design award for de Reus Architects, who received previous honors for their designs of Makai Residence in 2011,Ka’upulehu Beach Club in 2009, Kuki’o Golf Club in 2008 and an Unbuilt Award in 2007 for Tidepool Hale.
