Punta Sayulita architecture, master planning, and design featured in the San Francisco Chronicle
After years of careful planning and a lengthy permit and land assemblage process, construction commenced last week at the Punta Sayulita residential real estate development following a colorful native Huichol Indian ritual blessing ceremony atop the highest ocean view hilltop at Punta Sayulita. Presiding over the intimate groundbreaking ceremony were principals Brett Ellsworth and Kevin Roberts of the developer, Contact Development Company, along with Punta Sayulita’s associates and families. Longtime Sayulita and Ejido community members were on hand to participate in the blessing ceremony as were officials from the Municipality of the Bay of Banderas and State of Nayarit.
Punta Sayulita is one of the most anticipated residential real estate developments to break ground in the Puerto Vallarta/Riviera Nayarit area due to its stunning property featuring ocean-frontage adjacent to the quaint surfside village of Sayulita which entailed years of environmental planning and permitting. Set upon a pristine 33-acre private peninsula with approximately 1 kilometer of coastline, the upscale low-density community will consist of only 62 oceanfront and ocean view homes with prices beginning at US$1.5 million along with a residents’ beach club designed by the Architectural Digest award winning firms of de Reus Architects of Waimea, Hawaii and Vita Planning & Landscape Architecture of San Rafael, California.
“Punta Sayulita offers an extraordinary opportunity to live in an innovative community that truly marks the first residential resort project in the area that brings the broad appeal of environmental sensitivity and creative design into the luxury market to combine sophistication with healthy living,” remarked Kevin Roberts of Contact Development Company. For example, “eco-sustainable design practices will be employed throughout the project as evidenced by the community’s road and path system that has been designed to follow and adapt to the property’s natural topography in order to minimize disturbance to the amazingly beautiful trees and tropical vegetation that naturally landscape the property” according to Brett Ellsworth.
“Although the peninsula itself naturally provides the utmost in privacy and an ideal landscape to develop a collection of luxurious oceanfront and ocean view residences and beach club, from the outset it was the philosophy of our company and design team to have Punta Sayulita feel like an “organic extension” of the neighboring village of Sayulita that embodies simplicity and a relaxed coastal living environment for our resident families and their guests,” explains Kevin Roberts.
In anticipation of groundbreaking and to establish Punta Sayulita’s commitment to the community of Sayulita, Punta Sayulita has been very active with its community initiative programs by establishing and sponsoring a variety of environmental and education fundraising events including its annual Punta Sayulita Longboard & Stand-up Paddle Classic which attracts some of the top professional surfers and paddlers from around the world to compete as well raise money for the Reef Check Foundation and Punta Sayulita Foundation programs which were initiated last year.
Residential sales at Punta Sayulita are off to a strong start with about one-third of the Phase 1 residences either sold or under preconstruction reservations. “It’s extremely gratifying to be involved with families who share in our vision for this special piece of property as well as from prospective families who have been so complimentary and patient in monitoring our progress to get to this important stage of commencing construction. Given the amount of interest Punta Sayulita has received to date, we are very optimistic about our sales activity for the rest of this year and next year as we progress with construction of the phase 1 residences and beach club which is scheduled for completion next year and into early 2013,” remarked Kevin Roberts.
