This prototype hale design, at approximately 5,807 square feet, is the largest of the residential options available through Kukio. The vision behind the design was for the architecture to be gracious and relaxed in a contemporary Hawaiian Craftsman style.
The main living and dining spaces and two of the three bedrooms are oriented to coastline views. The seaside lanai and garden are designed for outdoor living with swimming and spa pools and an outdoor kitchen. All bathrooms include private gardens with outdoor showers, and each property includes a separate guest hale.
Details include mahogany-clad columns, rustic travertine floors, and hand-hewn cedar timber trusses inspired by the design of the Hawaiian canoe.
This project was designed for Kukio developer Michael Meldman by Mark de Reus, in association with Hart Howerton.
This home is featured in Tropical Experience and was the cover story in Trends magazine’s US Home and Living Volume 22 Number 9.
