Kukio Golf Club – North Kona Coast, Isle of Hawaii, Hawaii

Hired by the developers of Kuki’o, we created a golf club within the Tom Fazio-designed course that would extend the Pacific Rim character of their highly successful Kuki’o Beach Club on the North Kona Coast.

Our overarching design intent was to create an architecture, current but with a palpable connection to the architecture of ancient Polynesian cultures that would lend an elegant and elemental spirit to the site.

The design for this hillside club incorporates rustic yet elegant materials. We used exposed timber-framed ceilings, African mahogany hardwood, ohia trellises, lava stone walls, and limestone floors. The project was composed of four individual thatched-roof pavilions, housing; a pro shop and retail, a dining area with kitchen and locker rooms, underground cart storage, and an event lawn.
