North Kona Coast, Big Island, Hawaii
The Cottages, adjacent to the Kukio Beach Club, were planned as the “village core” of this coastal resort, where owners can walk or drive a golf cart to the Kukio Beach Club and Spa. The architectural design reinterprets early 20th-century Hawaiian architecture, with rusticly elegant materials. Architectural detailing conveys a strong sense of craftsmanship with exposed timber framing, plaster walls and exotic woodwork.
Cottages range in size from 2,000 to 3,500 square feet and are clustered around historic anchialine ponds on 15 acres. The first phase introduced 18 cottages, and the second phase included 20 more.
